Vanshaj (Vee) Gandhi

RA at Humber

Vanshaj (Vee) Gandhi [Pronouns: She/They] is a mental health professional with a passion for equity and social justice. They joined the EEYCC team as a postgraduate student in the Addictions and Mental Health program at Humber College. They have gained a postgraduate certificate in Mental Health Intervention from Seneca College and have their Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology. They started their journey with research during their undergrad with cross-country research that focused on LGBTQ+ mental health which was published in an International Journal and also awarded at an International Conference as “The Best Clinical Research”. Their bachelor’s dissertation explored associations between online sexual behaviours, cognitive distortions and social appearance anxiety. Additionally, Vee has been working in the mental health social work frontline with their experience with YWCA Toronto as a Shelter Support Worker – Trauma Counsellor as well as a Community Engagement Worker. Vee also has been volunteering with Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre under The Trip! Project where they participate in harm-reduction outreach work consisting of overdose prevention and overdose response. They express a great interest in trauma-informed care and harm reduction and are inclined to use their knowledge in policymaking and mental health social work frontline.
